Third and final post for today! A pretty notebook

Wow… I’ve had a super crafty day! I’ve been sat in front of the TV all afternoon, with three different football matches in the background, which has been cool. But at least I have been productive too!

My final project for the day was another attempt at coptic bookbinding to make a little notebook that I decorated with birds and flowers, and wrote a variety of Jane austen quotes in (you’ve got to love her!).

I followed a different tutorial this time and am really pleased with how my stitching turned out. Next time I need to remember to do more than 3 rows of stitching as it’s the inner lines that look best (rather than the top and bottom ones).

It’s definitely better now I have waxed thread as well, though next time I need to think harder at the beginning how much I might need… This time I ran out part way through and had to tie more on!! Oh well, its a good job I’m getting to be less of a perfectionist with my crafts!

  1. That’s a lovely book Julia. I’m so happy you had a productive crafting day. I’m sure a little practice is all you need work out the details. I’m looking forward to trying some new projects soon myself.

  2. This is lovely. Though not especially practised in crafts, one that does interest me is making books, and I do have a book I made myself in a book-stitching class. I think it was Coptic stitch we learnt then too. What a lovely thing to have made, and Jane Austen is so witty and so wise. That’s an incredibly productive day….

    1. Thank you. It’s fun as I’ve just read s book about a book club studying pride and prejudice,so that had lots of quotes in it. If you ever hear of a book stitching workshop locally I’d love to know about it 😊

  3. I’d like to do a bookbinding course too. There was a really good one at UWE (University of the West of England) but I was too busy with my degree at the time.
Well done Julia, it’s lovely. I have in mind to make a Jane Austin themed junk journal as I found an ideal book I a charity shop.
To have enough thread for a signature it needs to measure three times the page length.
    Xxxx
